I was fortunate enough to be asked to commission a pet portrait of a beloved family pet, Duke a Dutch Shepherd. After a rough sketch of Duke on the canvas, I was looking for a particular tool or brush to fine tune blades of grass in the background. Little did I know that old decrepit brush that has no markings and no place in my collection would be the one for this task! Note to self (or anyone’s self); think twice before throwing out something so worthy.

A fair amount of this portrait was completed with that old decrepit 00/10 brush to detail everything right down to the shadows of his teeth.
